Hot on the heels of Panama winning an Olympic gold medal in Beijing, Panama now has another great reason to celebrate. Margarita Henriquez, a resident of the Azuero peninsula, has won Latin American Idol. Panamanians are fiercely patriotic and with Henriquez’ win, you can feel the pride throughout the country.
Margarita beat out Costa Rican Maria Jose Castillo in Thursday night’s episode of the hit series, based on the popular series American Idol. Immediately following the announcement of her win, fireworks and horns could be heard throughout the Azuero peninsula and the rest of Panama. Henriquez is from La Villa De Los Santos, a small town just outside of Chitre in Herrera province. At 17 years of age, Margarita is the youngest winner of Latin American Idol, in it’s three season history. Full story...
